Check Out 'Apples' In October

One of the most underrated foreign-language films of the last few years, is now available on DVD via Film Movement. Anders Thomas Jensen’s Adam’s Apples is a dark and twisted Danish fable about an engimatic preacher who uses the help of convicts to assist with the maintenance of his church. When a new helper comes to the church, a series of unfortunate events makes for a darkly funny and altogether bizarre saga. Fans of recent Danish cinema will recognize Mads Mikklesen as the kind-hearted preacher, but he is only one element of a terrific ensemble of oddball characters. Adam’s Apples received a tiny theatrical release, and practically disappeared. Try to catch it on DVD, now that it’s out there. Totally worth it.
