‘Road’ Casting in Austin

'Road' Casting in Austin

Personally, I’m really skeptical about a film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s mesmerizing novel, The Road. Part of the beauty in that book, is the cryptic nature of the storytelling and the images left to your imagination. But, oh well. I guess it is a good sign that John Hillcoat will direct, as his goth Western The Proposition was stirring and original. Plus, the addition of Viggo Mortensen in the lead role, is comforting. But still, how can it even come close to matching the book’s abstract weight? Whatever. Regardless, there is a nationwide casting search for an actor to play the role of the son. And that search comes to Austin on November 3. They’re looking for “white boys, ages 7-10, with a thin/slight build.” Get more details over at the Austin Movies Blog.
