…or is it a heartfelt plea for support from some of our filmmaking friends in Brazil?
(cut and pasted directly from my email)
Dear Mr. Gabriel Wardell
My name is Allan dos Santos, I´m a video director since 2002 and last year my team received the Brazilian government approval for a program called MECENATO. The Brazilian Culture Ministery allow us to make partnerships with companies and use 4% of a federal revenue tax as sponsorship. You can see the confirmation at http://www.cultura.gov.br/salic4/index.php?chave=077602&campo=PRONAC&UF=&AnoProjeto=
Thinking that may not be easy to be our sponsor for all project USD 64 457.00. The priority should be get the national companies´ money. The question is that brazilian companies dont´t believe IN documentaries as art, or as cinema. Even with best documentaries directors such as Eduardo Coutinho, João Moreira Salles they don´t believe that lots of International Festivals are going to be interested on our material.
Always with the “cinema language”, the video will show positive messages of hope and education. Good people who changes a city point of view, a person that changes all neighborhood way of life. At all, good stories on this theme that has been present throught the crime eyes, by police cops, not by the people who lives violence on their skins.Witch we are going to do.
Please give a look at the project and numbers we are looking after to work with. The attachement has some information for you to see what is our idea. See one of my “short´s” to understand my way of work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_Mq09roFWI
Please, the only thing we want is your support. An e-mail, message or letter waiting for more informations or for the subscription of the video, telling us that our idea is good and giving us best wishes of luck with sponsors.
Could you please take one minute of your time to write a couple os words for saving our film? And lifes?
Undarstand my request as a hand asking for another, just to shake each other and start a friendship.
Thank you for your atention.
Allan dos Santos
