Most people attending SXSW 2008 had no idea that David Simon, creator of HBO’s beloved series The Wire, was actually in attendance. He kept a low profile near the end of the fest and then had a big event on the Tuesday following it all. He was interviewed in front of a few hundred folks at the University of Texas, by film professor John Pierson. I stopped by to check it out, because while I have not watched any of The Wire yet, I thought it’d be a great conversation. It was. Minus a few spoilers here and there (Omar?), I was able to follow along even if I did feel at times like the odd man out at a Star Trek convention. Janet Pierson has shared on her blog, a great recap of the night and the conversation, by cartoonist/blogger Austin Kleon.
