I’m an Austin resident until June, so I’m gonna spend the next six weeks trying to enjoy all that this town has to offer. There’s a particular seven-day stretch coming up, that is jam-packed with a steady stream of tantalizing film and music events in Austin. Behold:
April 28: Iron Man advanced screening at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, featuring an appearance by Mr. Jet Pack International.
April 29: The Films of Benh Zeitlin and Friends – A Beneift, at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz.
May 1: Matt Stone of South Park will be a guest for John Pierson’s regular University of Texas film master class, wrapping a successful semester. Later that night, folks can catch M.I.A. performing at La Zona Rosa.
May 2: The Raconteurs are headlining a two-night stand at Stubb’s.
May 3: A super early Pineapple Express screening with stars Seth Rogen, James Franco, Danny McBride, and director David Gordon Green scheduled to attend.
May 4: A Mildred Pierce coffee and pie social, which will also serve as a benefit for Austin Chronicle columnist Stephen Moser.
May 5: Kiss Me Deadly will screen as the final semester installment of the Austin Cinematheque series. That same night, in honor of Cinco de Mayo, the Alamo Ritz will host a special screening of Three Amigos, featuring an enticing Tex-Mex menu.
