iW NEWS | Paramount Launches Worldwide Acquisitions Group; Brodlie Heading Unit

Unveiling a centralized studio acquisitions arm, Paramount Pictures has announced the creation of the Paramount Worldwide Acquisitions Group. Paramount Pictures International (PPI) president Andrew Cripps and Paramount Vantage president Nick Meyer announced that SVP Matt Brodlie will lead PWAG, reporting to Cripps and Meyer on all PPI productions and acquisitions, and to newly appointed EVP of Production and Acquisitions Guy Stodel on possible Vantage projects. Stodel also reports to Cripps and Meyer, following the recent departure of Amy Israel. Rounding out the acquisitions team’s top tier are Los Angeles-based VP Joe Matukewicz, executive director Ben Cotner, and director Mary John Frank, London-based VP Berenice Fugard and director Alexei Boltho, and director level exec Karen Adler in France. In the words of an announcement this afternoon, “The new group will be responsible for acquiring films for distribution and seeking co-production opportunities around the world. These acquisitions, co-productions, and local productions will be focused initially in the territories where Paramount currently has direct distribution: UK, France, Spain, Australia, Japan and Latin America.” [Eugene Hernandez]
