Remember what I said the other day about watching TV shows when they are hitting their stride? That would be Seinfeld in 1993, The West Wing until Aaron Sorkin left, and 30 Rock now. It’s also Mad Men, which will enter its second season later this week. Like many others, I played catch-up recently after missing the whole season during its original run on AMC. It’s a very good show, offering a look at Cold War American life as well as the inner turmoil of ambitious entrepreneurs. Sort of like The Sopranos, in that it uses a superficial hook (in this case, an ad agency in 1960s Manhattan) to dig into deeper issues of family and relationships. Get ready as season two rolls. It looks like we’re in for some fireworks.
