One Emmy Post Too Many

One Emmy Post Too Many

The full nomination list is here . And I hate to brag, but my predictions were pretty decent. Of the 11 categories I went for, I got 47/55 right, probably the best I’ve ever done with the usually wacky Emmys. This year the wackness was turned down a few notches and overall, the list is only moderately offensive. Sparing any commentary, below I’m listing my 10 favourite nominees, 10 least favourite, and 10 worst snubs.

Ten Best:

1. “The Wire” for best writing, and really, the nominations for series writing altogether .
2. Bryan Cranston for best actor.
3. Amy Poehler for best supporting actress AND Will Arnett for best guest actor!
4. Sarah Silverman’s triple nods for guest star, “Outstanding Special Class – Short-format Live-action Entertainment Programs” and best song writing.
5. “Lost” for best drama series.
6. John Slattery for best supporting actor.
7. “Autism: The Musical”‘s 5 nominations.
8. Laura Dern for best supporting actress (in a movie/mini)
9. “Flight of the Conchords” two song nominations.
10. “Mad Men”‘s double nods for art direction.

Ten Worst:

1. Howie Mandel for best reality host.
2. Steve Buscemi for best guest actor in 30 Rock (love him, but he did nothing)
3. “According to Jim”‘s nod for cinematography?
4. “AFI’s 100 Years…100 Movies – 10th Anniversary Edition” for best non-fiction.
5. “Entourage” for best comedy series.
6. “Boston Legal” for best drama series.
7. 8 nominations for “Dancing With The Stars”
8. Is 18 nominations for “30 Rock” and 4 nominations for Tina Fey a bit much?
9. Kevin Dillon for best supporting actor.
10. Tony Shaloub for best actor.

Ten Snubs:

1. George Carlin for best variety performance.
2. “The Wire” for everything but one.
3. Amy Ryan for best guest actress in “The Office.”
4. Rose Byrne for best supporting actress in “Damages”
5. Blair Underwood for best supporting actor in “In Treatment”
6. “Flight of the Conchords” in best comedy series
7. So much “30 Rock” love, but none for Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski or Jack McBrayer???
8. David Duchovny for best actor
9. Elizabeth Perkins and Justin Kirk for supporting actress/actor.
10. John Krasinski for best supporting actor.
