nyt | los angeles proposes restraints on paparazzi

From today’s New York Times: A city task force convened Thursday morning to tackle a serious public safety… The perpetrators: ravenous bands of paparazzi. The proposed solution: new laws to rein them in….the Los Angeles Police Department was absent from the hearing. In an early morning television interview, Police Chief William J. Bratton, who opposes any new laws concerning paparazzi, called the hearing a “total waste of time.”

“If you notice,” Chief Bratton said, “since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving; Paris is out of town not bothering anybody, thank God; and, evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don’t seem to have much of an issue.”
