After much hype and press, I finally got around to watching Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, a musical comedy web series starring Neil Patrick Harris. It’s straight-up camp, so be prepared. But it’s also enjoyable. Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Firefly) positions Harris as an aspiring mastermind of diabolical evil, except that he’s busy pining for a do-gooder girl at his laundromat. And, problem is, his crush may be falling for his arch nemesis: Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion). Part of the smarts in the series comes in the form of this question: What if the evil villain was the sympathetic loser, and the noble superhero was an egocentric tool?
