From a press release I received today:
‘Fireproof’ exploded on 839 screens last night for a whopping $2,258,469 for a per screen average of $2,692
The number 3 movie in the country last night !
In the last 5 years, on films opening on less than 900 screens, only Borat, Hannah Montana, and Bridget Jones had a larger opening day box office.
What’s Fireproof you ask? Why, its Christian fundamentalist propaganda.. starring, of course, Kirk Cameron… and in the form of a bad romantic drama meant to instill the importance of not getting divorced. AND it had a higher per screen average than Choke, The Lucky Ones and Miracle at St. Anna COMBINED.
