In a twist that shames my ever calling myself “an awards geek,” I FORGOT the Emmy Awards were even happening until this morning. And frankly, I don’t really care that they are happening. I could go on a long, been-done rant about how the Emmys reward mediocre television and are an insanely boring telecast (and make a bunch of references to their ignorance of The Wire in doing so), but instead I’ll just make uninspired predictions/hopes. Shockingly, those two actually line up in the big two categories, so I wouldn’t trust what’s written below.
Best Drama Series: Mad Men (prediction & hope)
Best Comedy Series: 30 Rock (prediction & hope)
Best Drama Actress: Glenn Close (prediction) | Sally Field (hope)
Best Drama Actor: James Spader (prediction) | Jon Hamm (hope)
Best Comedy Actress: Christina Appelgate (prediction) | Mary Louise-Parker (hope)
Best Comedy Actor: Steve Carell (prediction) | Alec Baldwin (hope)
Best Drama Supporting Actress: Chandra Wilson (prediction) | Diane Wiest (hope)
Best Drama Supporting Actor: Ted Danson (prediction) | John Slattery (hope)
Best Comedy Supporting Actress: Vanessa Williams (prediction) | Amy Poehler (hope)
Best Comedy Supporting Actor: Jeremy Piven (prediction) | Neil Patrick Harris (hope)
I’m not bothering with the rest of categories, but I hope somehow Project Runway sweeps the reality categories.
