iW NEWS | Forman's "Ball" To Screen at BAM

In a week-long run from December 12-18, BAMcinematek, BAM Rose Cinemas‘ repertory film program, will present Milos Forman‘s 1967 film “The Firemen’s Ball” with a new print courtesy of Janus Films. Forman’s third feature film, “Ball” tells the story of a retired fire chief who is to be presented with an honorary fire axe on his 86th birthday. By 1973, the film was one of four key films of the Czech New Wave “banned forever” by the government. It was nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1969. [Peter Knegt]
