Paul Schrader‘s 1985 cult classic, “Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters,” has been acquired by Fortissimo Films. “We are extremely happy that Fortissimo has acquired international sales rights to this film,” said Tom Luddy, the film’s producer. “We are excited at the prospect of the film being discovered for the first time by a new audience and re-discovered by those who saw it and loved it on its original release.” “Mishima,” written by Schrader, his brother Leonard and sister-in-law Chieko, is a portrait of Japanese author and playwright Yukio Mishima. The deal, for all rights outside of North America and Japan, was brokered by Fortissimo Co-Chair Wouter Barendrecht and Zoetrope‘s James Mockosk and producer Luddy. [Peter Knegt]
