Overture Films has signed a two-year, first look deal with Crescendo Productions, the company headed by Don Cheadle, Lenore Zerman and Kay Liberman; Overture CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett jointly announced Monday. The arrangement gives Overture access to film product from Crescendo. Crescendo’s past projects include 2007’s documentary “Darfur Now,” and are in development on a project based on the life of legendary jazz musician Miles Davis. “There’s no other company that we’d rather be in business with,” said Cheadle in a statement. “All of us at Crescendo have a long and successful history with Chris and Danny that we are looking to build upon with this partnership.” [Peter Knegt]
