iW NEWS | "Titov Veles" and "Rain" to Bookend NY's Macedonian Film Fest

Teona Strugar Mitevska‘s “I Am From Titov Veles” will open the Macedonian Film Festival, taking place November 20 – 23 in New York. The film is Macedonia’s entry for Best Foreign Language Oscar consideration. Closing the event is Milcho Manchevski‘s 1995 film, “Before the Rain.” Nominated for an Oscar in 1995, the film is considered a “standard-bearer for Macedonian filmmaking. The fest will also screen his 2001 feature, “Dust.” Also on tap are Sergej Stanojkovski’s “Kontakt,” Ivo Trajkov’s “The Great Water,” Darko Mitrevski’s “Bal-Can-Can,” Stole Popov’s “Happy New Year 1949,” Kiril Cenevski’s “Black Seed,” Igor Ivanov’s “Upside Down,” and Svetozar Ristovski’s “Mirage.” [Brian Brooks]
