“Hakikimori” is the Japanese term for young men who sequester themselves in their parents’ home in front of the computer in their bedroom. Divorced dad Martin brings the term up to a colleague, while missing the parallels to his own son, in Mijke de Jong’s fascinating Dutch family-relationship film, “Stages.”

I’m surprised that I haven’t heard the term used in this country.
