The heated Saturday match between the undefeated University of Texas and Texas Tech football teams, was all bout a disappointing first half and a dramatic second half. And, then, a soul-crushing final two minutes. I was watching the game from Mike Ditka’s bar near Michigan Ave. in Chicago, and was easily outnumbered when it came to people rooting in favor of UT: the Midwest college football fans have never much liked the rival Longhorns. When UT came ahead for the first time in the entire game, with two minutes remaining, there was a brief moment of exhilaration. Then, Texas Tech did what any decent team would, and managed a game-winning touchdown in an impressive 90-second drive up the field. Miserable.
