iW NEWS | "Dolls," "People" Lead image+nation Winners

image+nation, Canada’s oldest and largest LGBT film festival, closed up its 2008 edition Sunday night at the Cinema Imperial in Montreal with a screening of Tom Gustafson‘s “Were The World Mine. The festival’s jury also presented the following prize, with winners including Karin Babinska‘s “Dolls” for the grand jury prize in the drama section, Olive Demetrius and Hanifah Walidah‘s “U People” for the documentary section’s grand jury prize, and Benjamin M. Piety‘s “The Lonely Lights, The Color of Lemons” for the shorts prize. Yen Tan‘s “Ciao” won both the audience award for a drama and a special jury mention in that section. Other audience awards went to Tanaz Eshaghian‘s “Be Like Others” for documentary and both Francoise Doherty and Mel Hogan‘s “Shorts Les Lapines” and Pat Mills‘ “Pat’s First Kiss” for shorts.
