iW NEWS | Green Film Starts Reichert's "Gerrymandering"

Green Film Company announced the start of production on its third film, Jeff Reichert’s political documentary “Gerrymandering”. The film is financed by a bi-partisan investor group formed by leading online education entrepreneur Bill Mundell, and written and directed by Jeff Reichert, former Senior Vice President for Magnolia Pictures (and co-founder and editor of Reverse Shot, which publishes their reviews on indieWIRE).

“Directing ‘Gerrymandering’ is a natural extension of my time at Magnolia,” said Reichert in a statement. “Like the films I worked on there, this is a fascinating untold story that begs for feature-film treatment. I think viewers are going to be stunned by what they see.” Production started in California with Reichert and director of photography Gary Griffin following Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in his successful push to pass Proposition 11, a measure that will drastically change the way California’s district lines are drawn. The production has completed shoots in Florida, Iowa and Oklahoma and will continue through January 2009. Green Film Company was founded in 2007 by producers Dan O’ Meara and Chris Romano with the initiative “to broaden the concept of green consciousness by making films that cover a range of social issues ad achieve creative and commercial success.”

In addition to “Gerrymandering,” Green Film Company has financed the “United Obama Documentary,” which recently sold to HBO, and is producing an adaptation of the best-selling book “Freakonomics.”
