iW NEWS | IFFR Tributes and "Signals" for 38th January Fest

The 38th International Film Festival Rotterdam will pay tribute to Polish film director Jerzy Skolimowski, Paolo Benvenuti from Italy and Peter Liechti from Switzerland. All are expected to attend the festival, taking place January 21 – February 1 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, for retrospectives of their films. In other news, Rotterdam’s new section “Signals” will include five thematic programs. ‘Size Matters’ comprises exhibitions and films that focus on cinema and visual art in relation to ubiquitous electronic screens. ‘Hungry Ghosts’ deals with recent Asian ghost movies, while “First Things First” focuses on very first films by now established film auteurs, and Young Turkish Cinema’ offers an overview of the film culture of Turkey. The full program of the 38th IFFR will be published on indieWIRE January 15.
