I’m still in a funk after a Christmas morning rush to the emergency room for being attacked by a pit bull. (I will share the details at a later point.)
So, this morning in a medicated, uncaffeinated haze, I opened up the NYT and my heart started pounding with excitement as I saw the Oscar ballots of my dreams, FULL OF FOREIGN FILMS!
Turns out critics Scott, Dargis, and Holden are offering their annual nominations for the year’s best in several categories.
Thank-you, guys, for letting me float on a cloud of bliss, if only for a moment.
Some of my own Top Ten are included in their lists, but also a number of other excellent selections that would be in my top twenty: “The Edge of Heaven,” “Reprise,” “A Secret,” “Let the Right One In,” “The Last Mistress,” to name just a few.
Academy, please take heed before the January 12 deadline for nominations!!!
I’m feeling better already….
