In my recent coverage of Doug Pray’s new documentary, “Art & Copy” here at Sundance, I mentioned a political commercial created by one of the ad men featured in the doc that was used to help Ronald Reagan get re-elected in 1984. The ad man who created this commercial said when Reagan saw it he replied, “I wished I was that good.”
You can see it ad here. It’s rather fascinating how times are so different and how everything that was being touted as a “success” by Reagan is now in shambles. I’m not going to get into how perhaps Reagan’s economic policies led to this mess that was of course carried on by the Bush administration, but it’s a pretty strange experience watching this clip.
