Stuart Smalley Fixes the Vikings

Stuart Smalley Fixes the Vikings

“First order of business…get a quarterback!” So says the newest incoming Senator from Minnesota, Al Franken (how cool is that?) From his lips to God’s ears…but a veteran arm and leader in the huddle is only half the problem. When will Ziggy the owner realize that Head Coach Brad Childress must go? The guy is as mediocre as it gets (he’s now 24-25 over the last 3 years) and often seems clueless during games, especially at the end of halves where he’s been pathetic at time management. And how about letting the Eagles kick a 44-yard field goal to go up 3-0 in Sunday’s playoff game when he could have accepted a holding penalty and pushed them back 10 yards? Huh? Didn’t he trust his defense to make a stop on a repeated 3rd down and maybe make Philly punt instead of giving them the lead early?

Granted he’s cleaned up the team off the field, resulting in less player arrests in the offseason, but that’s not good enough. While I was happy the Vikes won their division and made the playoffs, the downside was I knew it meant Childress wouldn’t get fired. Another season of bad decisions and Tarvaris Jackson and Gus Ferotte at QB? Say it isn’t so…
