Baldwin Gets the Spirits for Next Week's Bash in Santa Monica

“30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin has been named an honorary chair at the upcoming Film Independent Spirit Awards, taking place next Saturday, February 21 in Santa Monica. Baldwin, who will be a presenter at the ceremony, which airs live at 5pm EST (2pm PST) on IFC, was selected for his outstanding achievements in film as well as their commitment to Film Independent’s overall mission to celebrate the wide spectrum of independent filmmaking. Baldwin will soon be seen in Derick Martini’s independent feature film “Lymelife,” and Nick Cassavetes’ “My Sister’s Keeper.”

“Alec’s dedication in collaborating with independent filmmakers and championing their work is at the very core of our mission,” said Dawn Hudson, Executive Director of Film Independent in a statement. “We are thrilled to have such a wide range of accomplished presenters and performers to celebrate this year’s Spirit Awards.” As previously announced, Steve Coogan will serve as M.C. of the event.
