Celluloid Dreams To Go "Boating"

Celluloid Dreams has announced that it is handling international sales of Philip Seymour Hoffman*s directorial debut, “Jack Goes Boating.” Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf of Big Beach and Emily Ziff of Cooperstown are producing the film, along with independent producer Beth O’Neil. Overture Films is co-financing with Big Beach and will distribute the film domestically. Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Ortiz, artistic directors of LAByrinth Theater Company where the stage play was originally developed and produced, are executive producing.

A romantic comedy set in working class New York City, “Boating” has been adapted for the screen by Bob Glaudini and is based on his original Off Broadway, which opened in the spring of 2007. Glaudini is working closely with Philip Seymour Hoffman who will both direct the film and star as Jack. Hoffman will co-star with Amy Ryan, John Ortiz and Daphne Rubin-Vega, who both, along with Hoffman, originated the roles on the stage. The film is scheduled to start shooting on Feb 9th in New York City.

“Philip Seymour Hoffman is one the most unique and exiting talents working in our business today,” Celluloid President Hengameh Panahi stated. “The warm, kind hearted yet unconventional love story is a real crowd pleaser and this, coupled with Hoffman’s formidable talent as well as that of his co-stars makes for an incredible project that we*re delighted to be bringing to the market.”
