New U2, Early By Necessity

New U2, Early By Necessity

How’s this for mistakes? A team at Universal Music in Australia accidentally uploaded the new U2 album, No Line On The Horizon, a week early. Oops. The album officially hits retailers next week, but the band has responded by making the entire thing available for streaming on its MySpace page. The cat’s out of the bag, so it’s really all you can do if you’re in their shoes. I’m gonna buy the album next Tuesday, but of course I’m also listening to it in streaming form. And, honestly, if I was someone on the fence about purchasing the album (and I’m not), listening to how great it is, would push me to spending my money. On first listen, it’s a great album, up there with Achtung Baby and All That You Can’t Leave Behind in terms of experimentation with classic pop textures.
