Roadside Fashions "September" for North America

North American rights to R.J. Cutler’s Sundance ’09 doc, “The September Issue” has been picked up by Roadside Attractions. The deal, which includes theatrical and home video rights, was secured from A&E IndieFilms, which produced the doc that is a behind-the-scenes look at Vogue magazine. . The deal was announced jointly by Eric d’Arbeloff, co-president of Roadside Attractions and Bob DeBitetto, president of A&E Network and BIO Channel. Roadside plans to release the film this September, while A&E will follow the film’s theatrical and home video release with a television broadcast premiere.

The domestic deal was brokered by Robert Sharenow, SVP of nonfiction and alternative programming for A&E Network; Molly Thompson, vice president of A&E IndieFilms; and CAA on behalf of A&E, and by Cohen for Roadside. French-based sales company Elle Driver is selling international rights to the film.

Cutler’s (“The War Room”) look in the fashion world and follows Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine for twenty years, and her team of editors through the inner workings of her magazine as the staff puts together their celebrated annual September issue.

“After an incredible response to the film in Sundance, we are pleased to have Roadside Attractions as our distribution partner,” commented DeBitetto in a statement. “R.J. has put together an intimate, wry and surprising look at the untouchable glamour of Anna Wintour’s Vogue and we are looking forward to bringing it to audiences around the country.”
