Stranger Than Fiction Sets Tenth Season

Stranger Than Fiction, the weekly documentary film series programmed by Thom Powers and presented by IFC Center, will launch its tenth season on March 31, 2009 with a sneak preview of Geoffrey Smith’s “The English Surgeon,” which will include a Q&A with Smith & surgeon Henry Marsh. The film follows brain surgeon Marsh as he conducts risky operations in the Ukraine with steadfast determination. The film has played numerous film festivals, winning awards at Hot Docs and Silverdocs.

The STF spring season takes place at the IFC Center every Tuesday night at 8:00 pm for ten weeks, through June 2. Each event includes a discussion with the filmmakers, followed by a gathering at the nearby bar 99 Below. The full season schedule appears below. For more information, visit the program’s website.

Tickets for Stranger Than Fiction screenings are $15 for the general public and $12 for IFC Center members. A Season Pass, good for admission to all 10 evenings per season (plus one special Monday screening in April), is available for $95 for the general public and $75 for IFC Center members.
