A third sequel about driving cars really fast starring a bunch of B-listers, opening during a typically mild box office month, with poor reviews and a previous sequel that grossed just $62.5 million domestically:

That’s the highest opening day for April ever and the 21st highest opening day EVER (ahead of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Transformers, Sex and the City, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Passion of the Christ, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). Fast and Furious on track to gross $70-75 million, almost doubling the previous April record holder (Anger Management), and potentially making it biggest opener since The Dark Knight.
