San Fran : Fest celebrates its own

The San Francisco International Film Festival kicked off Thursday at the landmark Castro Theater, opening with Peter Bratt‘s postcard drama to San Fran’s Mission District, “La Mission” starring the helmer’s brother, Benjamin Bratt.

Exec director Graham Leggat, at once excited and effortlessly collected, used the screening to stress the big changes at the San Francisco Film Society — namely the take-over of many duties of the now-defunct Film Arts Foundation, which squarely plants the Society’s feet in Bay Area film production.
