Sundance Winner "Sleep Dealer" Going Day-and-Date

Maya Entertainment, the first vertically integrated entertainment company targeting the growing U.S. Latino market, has announced that it will premiere Alex Rivera’s “Sleep Dealer” day-and-date in homes and theaters on April 17 in partnership with TVN Entertainment.

“Sleep dealer is a futuristic film that deserves futuristic thinking,” Jeff Valdez, Maya Entertainment co-chairman, told indieWIRE. “We at Maya are excited to think out of the box and embrace technology with our various distribution partners.”

A winner at both the 2008 Sundance and the Berlin Film Festival, “Sleep Dealer” was described in an indieWIRE review as “a film with lofty dramatic aspirations, an ambitious visual palette and a folksy heart. To their credit, Rivera and co-writer David Riker have come up with something unique and yet engaging; the nervy combination of social politics with future shock storytelling.”

The film will be Maya’s first film to be released day-and-date on April 17 when the film will premiere simultaneously in Los Angeles and New York on 30 screens and on VOD in 10 million homes in 25 markets nationally.
