Pang-Ho Cheung’s latest has been snapped up by Fortissimo Films. “Dream Home,” produced by brand new production outfit 852 Films Ltd., has been acquired by the company for worldwide sales excluding Hong Kong. Fortissimo noted that the film represents the first film in the slasher genre from Hong Kong filmmakers in a generation. The deal was brokered between Fortissimo’s Co-Chairman Michael J. Werner and 852 Films’ principals Conroy Chan and Andrew Ooi.
“We are hoping with ‘Dream Home’ to have a repeat of the success we previously enjoyed in the genre zone with the ‘Eye’ films,” Michael J. Werner commented in a statement. “The 852 team have a great sense of style and with the directorial talent and track record of Pang Ho-Chung we feel that we have a film that will hold both commercial and critical potential..”
852 Films’ Chan and Ooi added, “We are honored to have Fortissimo rep Dream Home and are confident in their passion for this material. The fact that Wouter was very excited when we presented Dream Home to him at Film Mart makes this union particularly poignant and it means a lot to us that Michael and his team are also equally supportive of this project.”
The film will be sold in the Cannes Market next week.
