North American rights to writer/director Richard Eyre’s “The Other Man” have been acquired by Image Entertainment, Inc., which the company will release in New York and Los Angeles August 7 and 14 respectively. Distributuion and marketing of Eyre’s film (“Notes on a Scandal”), starring Liam Neeson, Antonio Banderas and Laura Linney, will be handled by Image Entertainment.

Driven to pursue the mystery surrounding his wife’s adultery, Liam Neeson embarks on a global pursuit with a haunted passion that begins to probe the nature not simply of jealousy, but of loss and forgiveness.” The film is shot on location in Milan and Lake Como as well as in London and Ely by renowned cinematographer Harris Zambarloukos (“Mama Mia!”).

Image acquired the rights to the film from U.K.-based Rainmark Films. The film is a co-production between Rainmark Films and New York-based Gotham Productions. Image Entertainment will also release the film for the home entertainment market including digital and broadcast.

“Liam Neeson’s mesmerizing performance in ‘The Other Man’ will give moviegoers a chance to re-connect with him on the big screen in his first film since the box-office smash ‘Taken,'” said Garrett M. Lee, Image’s Senior Vice President, Theatrical in a statement. “The film fits perfectly in our overall plans to build a portfolio of unique and entertaining films.”
