Not At Cannes? "Hours" of Options At The Movies

While the privileged among us will be spending the weekend enjoying the latest from Ang Lee and Brillante Mendoza in the south of France, IndieWood is giving the left behind many options to help ease the jealously (and Hollywood’s doing the opposite, offering us “Angels & Demons”). Among them, an export from the very country we all wish were in right now, Olivier Assayas’s “Summer Hours,” which is finding some of the best reviews of the years thus far, Rian Johnson’s follow-up to “Brick,” festival favorite “The Brothers Bloom,” and Jennifer Aniston-Steve Zahn romance “Management.”

So for those of you interested in beating the no-Cannes-do blues via a trip to the movie theater, indieWIRE directs you once again to our Calendar. Each film coming out this weekend has its own page, complete with links to the extensive coverage we’ve done on the films here at indieWIRE, as well as general information on the films, trailers, roundups of critical opinion, and – please note – the opportunity for you the reader to rate and comment on each film. Here’s links to this weekend’s stateside options, “Angels & Demons” aside:

Hitoshi Matsumoto’s Big Man Japan
Marlene Rhein’s The Big Shot Caller
Rian Johnson’s The Brothers Bloom
Christian Petzold’s Jerichow
Stephen Belber’s Management
Sergei Loznitsa’s Revue
Olivier Assayas’s Summer Hours
