For Movieline, Stu Van Airsdale boldly goes there with Duncan Jones, director of the acclaimed science fiction thriller Moon. With Jones’ father, space-oddity rock icon David Bowie, in the house for the film’s Tribeca Film Festival screening, Van Airsdale had to ask: “what’s up with you and your dad and space?” Jones responded, “We don’t really talk about it that much. I don’t know if it’s coincidental. But obviously his interest in it was something I was surrounded by growing up. So it had a huge impact on me just because it was part of my environment and my experience growing up.” Unfortunately, Jones didn’t divulge any dad-as-Stardust memories, but he’s probably saving that for a later film project. I think if David Bowie was my dad, I would be too intimidated to do or say anything remotely uncool.
