New Moon, the second installment in the Twilight film adaptations, is already drumming up intense interest. And, as that popular teaser trailer shows, the hero coming up from behind in this film is Taylor Lautner. I don’t know anything about the Twilight mythology, but I guess he’s some sort of a werewolf? One that is a rival to Robert Pattinson’s heartthrob vampire? Unlike Pattinson, though, Lautner is already a sensation among a certain age group. I didn’t know that, either, until this blog was bombarded with comments from Lautner fans after I posted from the Austin Film Society premiere of Robert Rodriguez’s The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D (Lautner played Sharkboy, in first starring role).
For over a year, what I can assume (and hope) are young kids, posted dozens of comments trying to get a message out to the young star. The messages? “If you are reading this please marry me!!!! I’m 12 and cute, plus smart” for starters. Click here to see the original post, and behold a moment in time (summer 2005) when Taylor Lautner first broke. The shocking thing, to me, is that it took him almost four years to regain that momentum.
