Wolfe Releasing announced the acquisition of both Alison Reid’s “The Baby Formula” and Jennifer Phang’s “Half-Life.” The films will simultaneously be released on DVD with an “expansive” VOD campaign through Warner Brothers Digital Distribution.
“The Baby Formula” is a Canadian feature about two women who employ an experimental procedure that turns stem cells into sperm, allowing them to have a biological child. The film won the audience award at Toronto’s Inside Out Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and is currently screening at Outfest 2009.
“Half-Life,” which premiered at Sundance (and an Outfest 2008 alum), is set in a near-future Northern Californian suburb threatened by looming global catastrophe, centering on the Wu family. Visit Films negotiated the deal on behalf of Phang.
Wolfe Video is aggregating LGBT programming in a distribution agreement with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. Wolfe’s films can now be viewed on Video-On-Demand and download-to-own across all platforms including cable, satellite, digital and wireless.
