One-Year Hoboversary.

One-Year Hoboversary.

It’s been exactly one year since I decided against committing to a post-education abode and taking my chances on the couch-surfing extravaganza that has been the past 365 days of my life. I had been honestly planning on having the hobo tour/pilgrimage/gypsyhood meet its end around now, finding myself an apartment somewhere in the New York-Toronto-Montreal triangle that has provided the basis for the majority of this tour. But word to the wise: Don’t ever think spending two months traveling around Europe will help you “organically come to a readiness to settle down somewhere.” What it actually did in my case, is give me the inspiration to keep the ball rolling as long as I possibly can. And while there’s definitely some downsides – I get misty-eyed whenever someone mentions the act of organizing the clothes in their closet or placing another book on their bookshelf; and on a flipside I am quite seriously fearful I’ll never be capable of spending more than a month in one place without feeling painfully restless – I still stand by it being a glorious (and let’s be honest – very privileged) way to usher yourself into adulthood.

Anyway, I figure I should probably quickly and overdramatically thank all of you that have graciously made this rent-free voyage possible: Michael, Brian, Basil, Eugene, James, Mom, Dad, Alex, Gina, Kelly, Earl, Dallas, Brian, Mark, Daniel, Rae, Brad, Krista, Paul, Kim, Janet, Sonja, Robby, Brad, Rudy, Stephane, Peter, Nine, Adam, Niels, Peter, Greg, Gregg, Julie, Michael, Toby, Johannes, Tilda, Mark, Geoff, the folks at Mastercard, VISA, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Festival du Nouveau Cinema, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, AFI Film Festival, and the many friends and strangers at every dot on the below maps that made everywhere sorta feel like home (though, as it seems, not quite enough like it or I’d still be there).

On to round two…
