Sally Potter’s new film, Rage, is coming to audiences worldwide, next week. The experimental film, set in the fashion industry, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in February and will see a very unconventional and somewhat revolutionary release pattern. (FULL DISCLOSURE: Cinetic Rights Management brokered the North American side of this deal) First up, Potter’s film will debut on mobile phones, exclusively from Babelgum. Click here to see the special Rage page on the video site. If you have a device like an iPhone, you will be able to start watching the film on September 21. On September 28, the film will then be made available on the Babelgum Web site, for those interested in watching it on their computer browser.
Over in Potter’s native UK, Rage will have a simultaneous cinema premiere event in over a dozen theaters around the country, on September 24. Click here for details. A special edition DVD is available now in the UK, while Liberation is going to release the film on DVD in America, on September 22. It’s very exciting to sit back and watch this happen, and congrats to the filmmakers, to Babelgum, and to Liberation.
