Reitman's "Air" Heads To December

Variety is reporting that Paramount Pictures has decided to push the initial limited release of Jason Reitman’s “Up In The Air” from November 13th to December 4th. The film will now roll out through December, going wide on Christmas Day. This marks almost the exact strategy Reitman’s “Juno” took two years back when it was released through Fox Searchlight. “Juno” received a limited release on December 5th, 2007, and went on to find a $143 million domestic gross.

“Air”‘s takes the film out of competition with fellow major awards contender “Precious” and fellow George Clooney-starrer “The Men Who Stare At Goats,” both set for November 6th start dates. Instead, “Air” will compete against the opening of Jim Sheridan’s “Brothers” and the second weekend of Rob Marshall’s “Nine.” Check out indieWIRE‘s December release calendar for the full story.
