Kevin Bacon is joining the production of James Gunn’s “Super,” a comedic twist on the superhero genre. Bacon, who was recently nominated for a Best Actor Golden Globe in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made For Television for his role in “Taking Chance,” joins Rainn Wilson (“The Office”), Juno star Ellen Page and Liv Tyler.
Veteran indie producer Ted Hope and his Gotham-based production company This is that, have recently partnered on the production with producer Miranda Bailey and her LA-based production company Ambush Entertainment. Ambush’s Amanda Marshall will co-produce alongside executive producers Matt Leutwyler of Ambush and Rainn Wilson. Ambush’s financing arm Cold Iron Pictures is backing the film and HanWay Films is handling international sales. Shooting in Louisiana through January, the Bacon will play Jacques, a smooth-talking drug dealer who swoops into the life of everyman Frank (Wilson) and seduces his troubled wife (Tyler).
