Cinema Guild Brings Rivette's Latest to US

Philip Hobel, Chairman of the Cinema Guild, has announced the acquisition of U.S. distribution rights to Jacques Rivette’s “Around a Small Mountain,” starring Jane Birkin and Sergio Castellito. The film, about a family-run travelling circus in the south of France, will open in theaters in the spring of 2010. “Around a Small Mountain” premiered at the 2009 Venice Film Festival and screened at the New York Film Festival, as well.

“A treat for longtime fans as well as newcomers to his work, ‘Around a Small Mountain’ is a charming romantic fable with a tinge of mystery from one of cinema’s all-time greats,” commented Ryan Krivoshey, Director of Distribution for The Cinema Guild, in a statment. “We are thrilled to bring Jacques Rivette’s latest film to US audiences.” [Andy Lauer]
