Tarantino & Cotillard Join Glittering Awards Line up at Palm Springs Fest

Actress Marion Cotillard and director Quentin Tarantino will be honored at the upcoming Palm Springs International Film Festival. Oscar-winner Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”) will receive the festival’s Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award, while Tarantino will be honored with the Sonny Bono Visionary Award, named after the festival’s late founder. The awards will take place January 5, hosted by “Entertainment Tonight’s” Mary Hart. Previously announced honorees include Jeff Bridges, T Bone Burnett, Mariah Carey, Morgan Freeman, Anna Kendrick, Helen Mirren, Jason Reitman and Jeremy Renner. The 21st annual PSIFF takes place january 5 – 18.

“Following a distinguished career in French cinema, Marion Cotillard has firmly established herself as a major actress in American films,” commented festival chairman Harold Matzner in a statement. “Her performance in Rob Marshall’s ‘Nine’ is nothing short of breathtaking. Quentin Tarantino is one of the most gifted, iconoclastic filmmakers of his generation, and with ‘Inglourious Basterds,’ he’s created a hugely entertaining, revisionist take on history as it might have been. For this achievement, along with his ongoing contributions to contemporary cinema, we’re delighted to be honoring him with the festival’s Sonny Bono Visionary Award.” [Brian Brooks]
