ACE Eddies Snub "Precious," "Basterds" For Sci-Fi

The American Cinema Editors have announced the nominations for their annual ACE Eddie awards, honoring the likes of “(500) Days of Summer,” “It’s Complicated,” “Star Trek” and “District 9” in their dual comedy/musical and drama categories. While more certain Oscar contenders like “Avatar,” “The Hurt Locker” and “Up In The Air” all found a place among the nominations as well, ACE most notably snubbed “Inglourious Basterds,” “Precious” and “Invictus” in the drama category, and “Nine” in the comedy/musical category.

Separate categories were also in place for animated films and documentaries, with expected nods going to “Up” and “Fantastic Mr. Fox” in the former, and “The Cove” and “Food, Inc.” in the latter. “Michael Jackson’s This Is It” also managed a doc, though unlike the film’s competitors here, did not make the Academy’s doc shortlist.
