Berlinale Announces Celebrations for 60th Birthday

The 60th birthday of the Berlinale, the Berlin International Film Festival, will be celebrated across the city with an art installation from Korean-American artist Christina Kim, a public screening of a restored print of “Metropolis,” a series of star portraits around the city, a number of panels on the future of cinema, and a redesigned website. From February 12-15, 2010, Christina Kim’s “The Curtain,” a 300-square-meter movie theater curtain, will be installed in the city. The new print of “Metropolis,” with found footage, will screen at the Brandenburg gate free-of-charge for the city’s population. The 2010 Berlinale will run from February 11-21, 2010.
