Director Anthony Minghella’s legacy continues to live on with the second edition of the Minghella Film Festival, slated to run from March 12 – 14 in Newport on the Isle of Wight. Last year’s event showcased the director’s films with appearances from his family, friends and colleagues, including Jude Law and Alan Rickman.
The festival, hosted by the Minghella family in cooperation with the British Film Institute and the Isle of Wight Young Chamber, will present some of Minghella’s past work, including a live performance of his radio play “Cigarettes and Chocolate”. Also featured will be films by young filmmakers, inspired by Minghella.
The weekend will kick off with a double-bill: the UK premiere Bruce Webb’s “The Be All and End All”, and Sam Taylor-Wood’s “Love You More”, which was produced by Minghella.
“Anthony was famously interested in helping and encouraging others as he was in art for art’s sake,” says festival founder Gioia Minghella. “I know he would have been deeply moved that so many of his closest friends and colleagues are once more joining with his family – and, indeed the wider family of the Isle of Wight – to make this project a reality.”
