Cameron Talking “Avatar” Follow-up

Cameron Talking "Avatar" Follow-up

“Its a science fiction movie, nobody’s ever really dead in a science fiction movie,” teased James Cameron tonight in a CNN interview with Larry King, when asked about the potential for an “Avatar” sequel. “We might be persuaded [to make a sequel,” Cameron said, joking, “We’ll have to see how much money the movie makes first.”

He made the joke on the day that the film surpassed “Titanic” to become the highest grossing film in U.S. movie history. On a more serious note, Cameron said that he while he has not written a script for the next “Avatar,” he has a general story arc in mind and has begun technical discussions.

Earlier this week, “Avatar” tied “The Hurt Locker” for the lead with nine Oscar nominations, including best picture and best director.
