Academy, Producers Pick Award Dates

The 2011 awards season is coming into focus.

The Academy is returning to an earlier date for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards: February 27, 2011. As usual, the ceremony will happen at the Kodak Theatre and will be broadcast live by ABC. And the Producers Guild of America will hold its 22nd Annual PGA Awards on Saturday, January 22. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has already picked the date for the national NBC telecast of the 68th Golden Globe Awards: January 16.

And the Academy is mounting its second untelevised Governors Awards, on November 13. This year they will be produced not by Academy president Tom Sherak but by ex-Academy president Sid Ganis.

The key Academy dates are:

• Wednesday, December 1, 2010: Official Screen Credits forms due
• Monday, December 27, 2010: Nominations ballots mailed
• Friday, January 14, 2011: Nominations polls close 5 p.m. PT
• Tuesday, January 25, 2011: Nominations announced 5:30 a.m. PT, Samuel Goldwyn Theater
• Wednesday, February 2, 2011: Final ballots mailed
• Monday, February 7, 2011: Nominees Luncheon
• Saturday, February 12, 2011: Scientific and Technical Awards presentation
• Tuesday, February 22, 2011: Final polls close 5 p.m. PT
• Sunday, February 27, 2011: 83rd Annual Academy Awards presentation
