Goodbye, Austin

Goodbye, Austin

Despite a pretty wretched cold/flu deal, losing (and then finding) my cell phone, and some shitty weather (1 C/34 F degrees!), I have to say: Ten days in Austin is leaving quite the positive impression on me. Peaking with last night’s Gay Bi Gay Gay event, I found Austin to have an undeniable appeal in its intensely fun-loving, inclusive attitude. I’ve honestly only found comparable vibes in Montreal or Berlin, and for this all to be going down in the midst of fucking Texas gives Austin this kind of charming rebelliousness that you can only sorta be in awe of. So thanks Austin… You made me really wanna come back without a professional agenda at play. And also big thanks to SXSW’s organizers for putting on a very impressive show, PJ Raval for giving me a place to crash this entire time, and Patrick the Lone Star Taxi cab driver who found my cell phone. While my liver and stomach will be happy to see you go, my heart’ll miss you a bit tomorrow Austin…
